“Jean-Baptiste Braneyre, the first owner of the estate in 1680, was well aware of the superb wine growing potential of the gravelly soil located a stone’s throw from the Gironde estuary. The 1855 classification confirmed later the quality of the terroir. In 1988, Patrick Maroteaux wrote with his family a new page of this great growth history (François-Xavier Maroteaux, his son, is now President). From the very first, they defined the spirit in which they wanted to work: to make quality an absolute priority, in displaying an enormous amount of fruit, freshness and subtlety. The winemaking team, managed by Jean-Dominique Videau, is fully devoted to highlighting these characteristics in every vintage.”
