This Second growth was classified in 1855. Château Lascombes, with 130 ha of vines, has a large diversity of soils, 120 ha, all located in Margaux Appellation and 10 ha in Haut-Medoc Appellation. The particularity of this estate is to have more Merlot in the vineyard: 50% of Merlot, 45% of Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% of Petit Verdot. The French mutual, MACSF owner of Château Lascombes since 2011, is attached to do quality and to respect the Medoc tradition with the help of Dominique Befve, the General Manager and with Michel Rolland, the oenologist consultant. They are determined to make a wine up to its classification. The Second wine of Château Lascombes is the Chevalier de Lascombes, who was the name of the first owner of the Chateau. Chateau Lascombes is an elegant wine, with a good concentration and finesse. This wine can be consumed young but can also be kept for a long ageing.
