A wine score is the quickest, simplest way for a wine critic to communicate their opinion about the quality of a wine. Professional wine rating scores from a wide range of critics, for example Robert Parker's Wine Advocate and Wine Spectator, are usually adjusted for the 100-point scale. A mean of these scores is presented for specific vintages of a wine, as well as across all vintages.

The McRae Wood Shiraz is made from grapes declassified from The Armagh and blended with fruit from special parcels from the family’s other Clare Valley vineyards. Rich and intense, it was considered a modern and innovative style of wine, when it was first released in 1992.
A good marriage of food and wine ideally provides more pleasure than enjoying either one separately. As each of us have different sensitivities to various flavours and preferences, the definition of 'perfect pairing' varies, and this makes up the fun part of food and wine pairing.
Cherry, blood orange, strawberry and cranberry flavors are juicy and nicely transparent, with a touch of sandalwood aromatics that lingers on the spicy horehound candy finish. WS

The 2019 The McRae Wood Shiraz is concentrated and lush, with layers of deli meat, black berries and spicy tannins. The tannins are actually the draw card here—despite the fruit occupying a most delicious space—and they are fine, chalky, chewy and ductile, all very good things. Delicious, true to place and style.
