    Mount Mary Quintet 2020 (Promo)

    Bottle Size
    75CL
    Pack includes:
Sam is a third-generation winemaker from the Middleton family and has held the role of Head Winemaker since 2011. He has a passion for viticulture, extensive experience in France. Growing up in the Yarra Valley alongside his father and grandfather, grapes and wine have always been a part of life. He has always demonstrated a passion for primary production and has a deep respect for this region and its unique ability to produce world-class wines. Named Red Wine of the Year 2023 in the Halliday Wine Companion, Quintet sits comfortably alongside Penfolds Grange and Henschke Hill of Grace, while being quite different in character. The estate’s flagship label, it is a (very) traditional Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot.
    About The Pack
Very subtle and refined on the nose with currants and orange peel as well as hints of currant bush. Medium- to full-bodied with creamy tannins that fell the mouth. Silky texture. Succulent and beautiful to drink. JS

A good marriage of food and wine ideally provides more pleasure than enjoying either one separately. As each of us have different sensitivities to various flavours and preferences, the definition of 'perfect pairing' varies, and this makes up the fun part of food and wine pairing.

Dried out right now but may come around. The astringent tannins are juicy in some ways, focusing a mid-weighted palate of red fruit scents. Gives me faith. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Drink now or hold. JS 90

A moderate vintage that is delivering a wine with good shape and style to it. There is a lot of cassis and red plums, as well as some really attractive cedary and violety notes. The merlot shines here. It also shows graphite, dark stony notes and fine, fluid tannins. A succulent and fine tannin finish. Sweet mulberries and plums, too. A great wine. JH

Among the ten vintage flight that I was privy to, this is arguably the finest of them all, sitting pretty alongside its rival, the stunning 2015. Medium-bodied, taut and understated, as the Quintet always is. Graphite, pencil lead, blood plum and a fleck of red and black currant. The wine's signature, a kit of gorgeous, sinuous tannins that reflect the later picking windows of more recent years. This could easily be nudged up a point. JS

All about subtlety and finesse; while medium-bodied, has deceptive intensity and length, the five varieties seamlessly moulded into a mix of black and red fruits, fine tannins and a gently savoury finish. Oak? Yes, it's there, but you don't notice it. JH
