About The Pack
A brooding mix of cool and very fresh aromas of wild red and dark currant, earth, pepper and a whiff of the sauvage. There is excellent richness and concentration to the relatively powerful medium-bodied flavors that are quite generous proportioned while exuding evident minerality on the youthfully austere and mildly rustic finale. This too is a very good villages and worth a look. BH
I very much like the sophisticated texture of the lilting and refined barely middleweight flavors that also exhibit fine delineation on the more complex and longer if slightly austere finale. BH
Discreet notes of wood and menthol are present on the cooler aromas of wild red currant, plum and plenty of sauvage character. The lilting and relatively refined medium weight flavors are shaped by fine-grained tannins on the balanced and youthfully austere finale. BH
Moderate reduction masks everything except an earthy hint. There is again very good vibrancy to the beautifully detailed middle weight flavors that possess solid depth and persistence on the youthfully austere finale. BH
An earthier and more sauvage-inflected nose is also comprised by notably ripe liqueur-like dark berry fruit aromas. There is slightly better energy suffusing the medium weight plus flavors that offer excellent concentration while retaining fine detailed and minerality on the slightly austere, long and better-balanced finale. BH
Here too there is enough wood to notice on the array of poached plum, black cherry and forest floor aromas. The very suave, indeed almost plush, medium weight flavors exhibit outstanding power and drive on the rustic, robust and compact finale. This is a classic Gevrey villages that delivers first-rate quality. Recommended. BH
The usual blend of La Justice and neighboring Les Crais, which were fermented together, the 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes offers up aromas of petals, exotic spices and red cherries, followed by a medium to full-bodied, supple and textural palate that's seamless and melting. RP
Here the wood is more apparent with a hint of menthol though neither are so much to impinge on the attractiveness of the ripe black cherry, smoked game and overtly floral-scented nose. The rich, generous and more concentrated medium weight flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the serious, youthfully austere and built-to-age finale. This is also very good for its level and worth considering. BH
Moderate reduction renders the nose tough to assess today. Otherwise there is good freshness and tension to the solidly concentrated and delineated medium-bodied flavors that exude a more subtle minerality on the firmly austere but not really rustic finale. BH
Here too the nose is bright and ultra-fresh with its combination of sauvage, red currant and earth scents. The succulent, round and tension-filled medium weight flavors possess excellent punch on the moderately austere bitter pit fruit-inflected finale. BH
