A wine score is the quickest, simplest way for a wine critic to communicate their opinion about the quality of a wine. Professional wine rating scores from a wide range of critics, for example Robert Parker's Wine Advocate and Wine Spectator, are usually adjusted for the 100-point scale. A mean of these scores is presented for specific vintages of a wine, as well as across all vintages.

Deep garnet-purple colored, it leaps from the glass with vivacious scents of chocolate-covered cherries, mulberries and blackcurrant pastilles with suggestions of bay leaves, pencil lead, tapenade and dusty soil. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has a generous amount of black fruit at the core with loads of earthy and savory accents and a soft, approachable frame, finishing long with an herbal lift. RP
A good marriage of food and wine ideally provides more pleasure than enjoying either one separately. As each of us have different sensitivities to various flavours and preferences, the definition of 'perfect pairing' varies, and this makes up the fun part of food and wine pairing.
Wafting from the glass with aromas of raspberries, plums and cherries mingled with rose petals and sweet spices, it's medium to full-bodied, sensual and concentrated, with beautifully refined tannins, racy acids and a long, penetrating finish. This is an exquisite Pavillon Rouge that is well worth seeking out. I confess that I don't buy many second wines, but I did purchase a case of this, with alacrity, right after tasting it. RP

Blended of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc, the 2015 Pavillon Rouge du Chateau Margaux has a medium to deep garnet-purple color and an expressive, alluringly spicy nose of cloves, cinnamon stick and fenugreek with a core of red and black currants, black cherries and wild blueberries plus a waft of pencil shavings. Medium to full-bodied with very fine, grainy tannins and wonderful freshness, it finishes long and satisfying. RP

Gorgeous, with a velvety, caressing feel, as warm plum sauce and blackberry confiture notes glide over a thoroughly embedded graphite edge. Rather lush, but light tobacco, bay and iron hints keep this focused even as the fruit takes center stage. WS

Pavillon Rouge Margaux 2nd Wine 2012

The second wine of Margaux, the Pavillon Rouge (63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, and the balance Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot), exhibits more structure and masculinity than one normally expects. It has a deep ruby/purple color, nice floral and blackcurrant notes, some spice box, moderate tannin and medium body. This is a Pavillon Rouge that should admirably stand the test of time for 15-20 years. Its impressively long finish adds to its appeal and value. This wine will actually benefit from several years of bottle age and keep for 20 years. RP

The quality of tannins in the Pavillon Rouge is really beautiful with extremely fine grain. It’s medium-bodied, fresh and silky. Racy and extended on the palate. Really pretty. Strength with elegance. JS
