Happy Sauvignon Blanc Day! - 4 May (Thu), 7:00pm (UTC +8)

Happy Sauvignon Blanc Day! Do you know that the first Friday of May each year is the International Sauvignon Blanc Day? We take the opportunity to introduce you the short history and wine styles made from this world-renowned white variety.

Sauvignon Blanc is a hugely popular grape responsible for some of the world’s most distinctively aromatic dry white wines with its piercing herbaceous and grassy aromas. DNA studies have suggested that the variety is originated from France in the Loire Valley, then spread to Bordeaux afterwards. It has also been travelling around the globe to produce numerous top-notch examples in a wide range of countries.

Undoubtedly Sauvignon Blanc is special to New Zealand. After the first commercial Sauvignon Blanc was born in the 1970s, the grape found its new home in the Southern Hemisphere and awoken the world to New Zealand wines. In recent years, more attention is on the Sauvignon Blanc of Chile, where the grape is planted in the cooler, costal new wine regions, creating fresh and crispy white wines.

This episode will be conducted in Cantonese.
