One of this producer’s finest releases from a cooler vintage that brings lift and purity. Aromas of blackberries, ferric earth, tobacco leaves, cedar, graphite, roasted coffee beans, olive tapenade, cured meat and red currants. The palate is seamless with no hard edges, supported by great depth of fruit, finely grained tannins, a viscous and silky woven mouthfeel and bright acidity. Lingering flavors of blood plums, dark chocolate,, blueberry compote, leather and walnuts. This is truly a magical wine that is in complete harmony and balance. It will live a long life in the bottle. Made from dry-grown vines planted in 1910. It spends five years in new French oak barrels. A truly excellent wine. JH

Full body with dark and shiny crimson color. Deep and highly complex nose with oscillating aromas of sweet cherries, violets, licorice, elderberry, dark chocolate mousse, raspberry headings, old aceto balsamico and vanilla sugar. Forceful but silky attack on the palate with layers of cassis, black cherry, raspberry headings accompanied by liquid dark chocolate, balsamic notes, the freshness of passion fruit as well as zest of black pepper.
