Always the insider's choice at this address, the 2022 Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Ile de Vergelesses unwinds in the glass with aromas of sweet cherries and plums mingled with rose petals and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, ample and velvety, with a fleshy core of fruit that nicely cloaks its fine but chalky structuring tannins, it exhibits excellent potential. RP
A slightly more deeply pitched nose is comprised by decidedly cool notes of plum, dark currant, forest floor and floral top notes, especially violet. Much like the Lavieres, there is a positively gorgeous, even silky, texture to the lighter-bodied flavors thanks to the ultra-fine tannins shaping the overtly stony, dusty and youthfully austere finale. This is textbook Ile de Vergelesses. BH
Here the equally cool and restrained aromas are the most floral-suffused in the range long with an airy and spicy mix of red currant and dark cherry coulis. The mouthfeel of the intense and beautifully detailed flavors is more refined still while displaying even more evident minerality on the perfumed, stylish and classy finale. This is lovely and should age extremely well as it virtually always does. Recommended. BH
The 2019 Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Ile de Vergelesses is very promising, mingling aromas of cherries and berries with hints of peony, orange rind and forest floor in an incipiently complex bouquet. Medium to full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, it's charming and complete, with supple tannins and a concentrated core of fruit. RP

Deeper, more multidimensional and more complete than the Les Vergelesses, the 2017 Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Ile de Vergelesses offers up scents of sweet berries, forest floor, wild plums and grilled meats.
