This is good drinking. Reminiscent of Chinon or Saumur, attesting to the struggles here with ripening Bordeaux varieties. Yet there is loads of personality here with gently astringent tannins, maritime freshness and lifted scents of paprika, chili and beef bouillon, backed by loads of violets to blackcurrants. JS
