IL Poggione Brunello di Montalcino 2014
Il Poggione is a benchmark property for fine, traditionally made Brunello with a reputation for cellar longevity. It also makes one of the most fairly-priced expressions of the Sangiovese grapes in the DOCG, and the 2014 ranked among the best of the vintage. Traditional styles are favoured by father and son wine-making team Fabrizio and Alessandro Bindocci to enhance colour and encourage tannin extraction. Any wood influence thus remains subtle, so as not to interfere with the natural expression of the Sangiovese grape in the unique Sant’Angelo terroir.
