Dear Wine Lover,
We are pleased to invite you to a Bordeaux weekend tasting feature 20 wines from the vintage 2016 – one of the best vintages in recent decades – focusing on the appellations of Margaux, Saint-Émilion, and Pomerol.
The vintage 2016 challenged château owners with rainy conditions in the beginning of the year, but the ideal weather in the summer consisting of strong diurnal shifts made up for the early struggles, allowing a slow but even ripening for the development of colour and aromatics.
The best wines are deep and intense, with a vibrant energy and delicious approachability. For many wines and estates, 2016 is an epic vintage. Margaux presents a lot of value-priced bottlings that deliver high quality. Going to the Right Bank, in Saint-Émilion and Pomerol, the reds are broad and powerful, with a good level of finesse that is remarkably polished and sensual.
