Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon St Helena Home Vineyard has a pure cassis and baked plum-scented nose with underlying licorice, dark chocolate, tar and pencil lead hints. Full-bodied, taut and firmly structured with chewy tannins, the muscular fruit comes off restrained and earthy at this youthful stage, finishing on a minerally note.RP

Production of these wines is generally only several hundred cases, but all have played a small or larger role in the blending together of the Private Reserve. They are all great wines, so if you are a member and have a chance to buy them, I wouldn’t hesitate. The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon St. Helena Home Vineyard is more focused on blueberry and blackberry licorice and floral notes. RP
