An attractively layered nose reflects notes of dried flowers, lemon rind, Granny Smith apple and a whiff of mineral reduction. The finer, but not denser, middle weight flavors possess a lovely texture that carries over to the stony, youthfully austere and notably firmer finale. BH
This south-facing, early ripening site has delivered a rather rich 2022 Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru Les Lavières. It offers up aromas of cherries, raspberries, violets and licorice followed by a broad, fleshy, medium to full-bodied palate.
Always the insider's choice at this address, the 2022 Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Ile de Vergelesses unwinds in the glass with aromas of sweet cherries and plums mingled with rose petals and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, ample and velvety, with a fleshy core of fruit that nicely cloaks its fine but chalky structuring tannins, it exhibits excellent potential. RP

An exceptionally floral-suffused nose is both cool and elegant with its array of red berries, spice and soft earth scents. There is a highly attractive sense of underlying tension suffusing the detailed medium-bodied flavors that are notably more sophisticated thanks to the firm but fine-grained tannins, all wrapped in a balanced, lightly austere and built-to-age finale.
