Can you imagine that a trip to Bordeaux completely changed the way I see wine?

A fabulous work opportunity took me to the châteaux of Bordeaux. I still remember walking through the vineyards, speaking with the people behind each vintage, and feeling history under my feet. It made everything come alive. 

One estate in particular completely captured my heart: La Mission Haut‑Brion. What draws me back every time isn’t just the wine – though it’s undeniably beautiful – but the story behind it. As the winemaker explained, for centuries the estate was run by priests who treated winemaking as a sacred calling, not just a craft. I still remember standing there, imagining generations before us tending the vines with the same sense of reverence. Knowing that history makes every sip so more meaningful.

This is a wine I love to open at the table with friends. It’s bold yet incredibly smooth, with a depth that reveals itself slowly. And paired with my favourite dish, perfectly roasted lamb, it’s just magic. The richness of the wine and the savoury meat flavours lift each other in the best way.
