The history of Montes dates back to 1988. Four partners, led by Aurelio Montes, decided to realize their dream of crafting Chilean wines a quantum-leap higher in quality, using sustainable methods.
Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon 1987, the first ‘premium’ wine to be exported from Chile, was a mould-breaker: a brand synonymous with premium quality that raised the bar for other Chilean producers. The first Chilean ‘ultra-premium’ followed: Montes Alpha ‘M’ (Bordeaux style); then Montes Folly in 2000 (pure Syrah); and lastly, Purple Angel (perfect example of Chilean Carmenère), in 2005.
In 2013, as part of the 25th Anniversary, Montes launched Taita, their ‘super icon’ wine, in which they blend the best from their vineyards.
With key markets in Europe, North America and the Asia-Pacific region, they have a widespread international presence in more than 110 countries. Their goal is that in every good restaurant, hotel or wine store, Montes wines should be available for the most discerning wine lovers.
